Thinking of Hosting a BILINGUAL
Family Storytelling Night?
Expect SUCCESS if you Do!
A bilingual Family Storytelling Night® occurs when participating families speak two or more languages (i.e. English-Spanish, or Korean-Russian-English).
BTW: Family Storytelling Night is for Bilingual Families (ESL-ELL) and for Early-Childhood Program families (Early Literacy). So, whether you’re a Head Start program or elementary school or district, Family Storytelling Night is for you!
For some reason — perhaps it’s because everyone tries harder to understand each other when the storytellers are English learners and immigrant parents — bilingual Family Storytelling Nights are among the MOST fun of all!
Patrick once facilitated a bilingual Family Storytelling Night on the Island of Saipan — as the invited guest of the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands Public School System — at which more than 14 native languages were spoken!
Continues at Home…
The storytelling tradition born at Family Storytelling Night (in your classroom, lunchroom, or other meeting space) grows and bears fruit for the families at home after the event — in the form of continuing family-literacy enhancement and an ongoing celebration of individual and family history, heritage, and culture.
Families thrive when programs and schools connect them to meaningful supports that really work. Family Storytelling Night events — tried, tested, and perfected for 15+ years — are especially useful for programs and schools serving bilingual and immigrant families.
There are two ways to implement Family Storytelling Night® for your early childhood program families (early literacy), or your elementary school bilingual families (family literacy).
Option A:
Ask Patrick to personally facilitate this event LIVE and IN-PERSON — in your gym, lunchroom, or other meeting space. Patrick travels to you.
NOTE: Programs inviting Patrick to conduct Family Storytelling Night in person often ask him to provide a professional development staff training the next morning, also.
Option B:
Get the Family Storytelling Night® KIT, and your team facilitates. The KIT includes all the informational components, coaching, support, and physical components you’ll need to host the BEST literacy FUN night[s] ever at a single center/school/site.
