Professional Development, Keynotes and Coaching for Programs and Dads
About Patrick Mitchell
The Down To Earth Dad® Founder Patrick Mitchell is a thought leader and trusted authority on father involvement, and on oral storytelling to enhance literacy and build capacity to celebrate individual, family, and community history, heritage, and culture.
His entertaining, passionate keynote addresses and professional development for educators, child-and-family advocates, practitioners, and parents are met with enthusiasm by audiences large and small.
National, state, and local education associations and organizations—including the U.S. Head Start Bureau, the Child Welfare League of America, U.S. Child Care Bureau, college and university symposia, and individual early-childhood programs and elementary schools across America—invite Patrick to speak at their conferences, train their teams, and facilitate their parent and family nights.
Three favorite topics are father involvement (Evening With Dads™ events and father-involvement coaching for educators and dads), storytelling evenings — Family Storytelling Nights® — supporting early-literacy enhancement, school readiness, and parent/family/and community engagement, and stress reduction for early childhood educators supporting work-life balance.
Patrick enjoys interacting with dads in numerous ways, from interviewing and featuring them in his National Dads Matter!™ Project to facilitating small and large group father interactions and dad coaching.
He has appeared on national television as a fatherhood expert and on numerous radio programs across America, and he writes a bimonthly column for Children’s Voice magazine published by the Child Welfare League of America in Washington, DC.
Patrick collaborates with agencies and organizations to offer services at both state and federal levels, focusing on father engagement, early literacy enhancement, and school readiness. He supports programs, educators, practitioners, and parents with resources and guidance.
He is founding director of The National Dads Matter!™ Project — localized for individual states, programs, and schools.
Patrick lives with his family in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
